Could have been a five. Positive- They had unit I needed, sign up process smooth and easy, location very convenient, facility clean and easy access. Agent walked with me so I could make sure I understood access codes, lock mechanism, etc. Negative: Then things went south. We noted that the light in the unit was not working. Agent said she'd have manager fix it. 20 minutes later no one had come to fix. But manager arrived with assistant, ladder and new lamp. The good news, they replaced it. The bad news is that they said was ballast and would be after the weekend for electrician to fix. I asked how would they get access with the soon to b full unit. Answer they couldn't. I asked if that meant I'd have no light for months or years till I mostly emptied unit. Answer yes. They said no power outlet for me to bring my own light. They suggested I bring a Coleman lantern - I being old said that would be inappropriate to bring Coleman latern with white gas into storage. They said no, I should buy a battery one. or get another LED battery light. I asked why they didn't check the unit- they said too many - I believe they must check for cleanliness when units are vacated, so that didn't hold water. Even then, their recovery could be that they have loaner battery lights for just this case. They offered no discount. ..

The two people who assisted us were very nice. The facility is spotless! After rental paperwork had been completed, I was given a lock and keys and headed off to the unit. I had to go back to the office to obtain token to use dolly. I think the person checking me should have asked if I needed the dolly so I didn't have to go back to office. Once at unit, the roll up door was locked! Called the office to ask them to please come unlock. It had been a very long day and I just wish the last step of moving items into unit had gone more smoothly.

Great service all the way around. I called to ask a few questions about their wine storage capabilities. I got all of my questions answered and then reserved a unit on the phone. I was at the storage facility 30 minutes later with my paperwork ready and escorted right to my locker. Best place in the east bay to store wine in a beautiful climate controlled (55 degrees) building.

First I went to Public Storage and asked for a price list. The manager in a condescending manner boomed, we don’t have a price list. Stunned, we left without further discussion. I had been a long time holder of their stock and sold my holdings. Next I tried Price Self Storage. What a difference. Drew provided all the information I needed to make a decision. Drew set-up my account over the telephone. That afternoon I visited price and was pleased at the cleanliness and knowledgeable staff. Price might cost a little more, but the old adage, “you get what you pay for” applies. I’m very pleased with my decision to be doing business with Price Self Storage.

I finalized a reservation for a 5x10 unit the morning of 7/12. Shortly thereafter I received an ad alert from Public Storage for the same unit but for a much lower monthly rate. I called Price Self Storage back and Trisha was awesome in price matching the other facility's price. It saved me time from having to redo the whole process with the other company. Excellent service in bringing in a new customer. I will definitely tell friends and family.

Love this place. Clean, secure, great location, easy access. The staff at Price is AMAZING. They are courteous, professional and super helpful.

I chose this company because they were so close to my business. Yes they are a little more, but the staff is professional and courteous and the facility is spotless! I am surprised by the "bait and switch" comments. Trisha helped me and she went way out of her way to explain the closing process. She even said that if we thought we would exit at a certain time, we should give notice and then extend later. The extensions ARE prorated. In fact, we gave notice and then had to add 4 extra days and it was prorated. I think people need to pay attention when people are explaining the policies. So often people just sign and ignore the instructions. I really LOVED the free use of the truck for move in. I wish we could rent it for move out too, but I understand why they can't.

My wife and I now run the facility and will try to do our best to make you or anyone else more than just satisfied with not only the service in the office but of course the quality of the facility. Rent rates do go up over time that is true just as all storage facilities do, but we do try to pass savings on as much as we can with all of our tenants. We do an assessment of your unit, its location, vacancy rate and other rates in the area before making any adjustments to your rate. In fact 2008 we did rental decreases. Surprisingly no one ever mentions that. Even as the economy has suffered our business has tried to stay competitive with our rates. There are places that are cheaper than us sure, but its one of those things where you get what you pay for. Our facility is top of the line in security mostly because we are very fortunate to have an amazing clientele here. We are also the only storage company within a 20 mile radius that has never had a break in. You might think not a big deal its Walnut Creek right? Not the case. 2010 was a horrible year for break-ins in the storage industry. Storage companies were even on the news and in the news papers for criminal activities ranging from burglary, domestic violence, murder, possession of illegal substances and guns. People were even tunneling through walls to get into other peoples units! Most company’s employees will tell you they have never had any problems. Such as rodents, leaks in the ceilings, mold, etc. and they will almost always say they have never had a break-in. It’s not a big selling point to tell a potential tenant that someone recently was robbed or had their items damaged. I personally have interviewed, secret shopped and managed other companies that are in the storage industry. They really are not our competitors because they don’t offer what Price offers. Cleanliness, peace of mind, amazing tenants, great location, free moving truck with driver, individual alarms on every unit, full time maintenance technician, 11ft ceilings, all steel and concrete construction, garage style roll up doors or everything from 5x5s – 10x40 units, climate controlled inside units, moving carts, wine storage, elite clientele base, the list goes on and on. For all of those reading the reviews and searching for storage I encourage for you not only to call the local police department before making a decision but also going to the facility to see the quality and safety of the location you are planning on storing with. I had a great experience here. I just recently rented a space from here for 6 months and had an excellent experience. I, myself, chose this place because of its reviews. Despite a few low reviews, all of which are a few years old, were very good. I asked the staff about this and they are under new management. They were always very friendly and extremely helpful. The manager even personally helped me move out when I needed an extra hand! This place is always very clean and I always felt really safe- a rarity at most storage facilities in the Bay Area. I would highly recommend Price Self Storage to anyone.
